DESCRIPTION:Electric mobility is no longer a future trend – it is already a reality.  \nOn 19 October\, more than 1\,200 people eager to take this new step towards electric mobility were able to learn about\, test and compare vehicles at GO electric day 2025\, which took place at La Coque.  \nDiscover\, test\, understand…  \nThroughout the day\, visitors were able to try out vehicles\, explore charging solutions and financing options\, and learn about available state subsidies.  \nA day for the whole family  \nMuch more than just an exhibition\, GO electric day catered to everyone’s interests: a fun event for young and old alike\, with numerous activities and educational initiatives focused on mobility.  \nCatering was provided by food trucks offering mainly organic and local menus\, contributing to the friendly and sustainable atmosphere.

DESCRIPTION:FNR Awards 2024\nSince 2009\, the FNR organises the annual FNR Awards ceremony – one of its flagship events that rewards the national research community\, in the presence of the Minister for Higher Education and Research. The winners are recognised in the categories of ‘Outstanding Scientific Publication’\, ‘Outstanding Doctoral Thesis’\, ‘Outstanding Promotion of Science to the Public’\, and for the first time in 2017\, ‘Outstanding Innovation Resulting from Research’. With this event\, the FNR aims to promote communication between researchers as well as scientific activities aimed at the general public and its youth. The FNR Awards highlight these contributions and reward both the winners and their institutions. From 2021 onwards\, the ‘Research-led Innovation’ and ‘Scientific Publication’ categories have been merged into a new category: ‘Outstanding Scientific Achievement’. In the same year\, the ceremony also saw the introduction of the new ‘Outstanding Mentor’ category. \nThe awards ceremony takes place in the Maison des Arts et des Etudiants in Esch/Belval – the heart of Luxembourg research since 2015 – and draws between 180 and 200 guests each year. \nAs part of a general move towards eco-responsibility\, the FNR wants to implement more sustainable and environmentally-friendly solutions for its events – which is why we applied for the ‘Green Business Events’ logo. Before receiving the Green Business Events logo\, the FNR had already implemented various sustainable solutions for the FNR Awards. However\, acquiring the logo has motivated our events team to explore further improvements in the sustainable organisation of the awards. This logo\, first obtained in 2023 and renewed for the 2024 edition\, reflects the commitment and direction in which the FNR wishes to continue to evolve.

The event featured an opening speech by Timothée Parrique\, an economist-researcher at the University of Lausanne\, followed by a roundtable discussion with Serge Allegrezza\, Director of Statec\, François Mousel\, Managing Partner at PwC Luxembourg\, Aline Muller\, CEO of LISER\, and Christian Schulz\, Professor at the University of Luxembourg. \nWith the participation of Mr. Serge Wilmes\, Minister of the Environment\, Climate\, and Biodiversity\, the CSDD aimed to challenge preconceived ideas and envision a model of prosperity that can adapt to future challenges within the planet’s limits. This thoughtful\, constructive\, and sometimes contrasting debate\, held before an audience of over 300 people\, provided a rare opportunity to collectively reflect on Luxembourg’s economic\, social\, and environmental future.

Klima-Agence manages the Nature Pact on behalf of the ministry. \nNature Pact Day was held on June 28th\, organized by Klima-Agence in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment\, Climate\, and Biodiversity. The event provided an opportunity to recognize 30 newly certified municipalities and offered a chance for stakeholders in the sector to share information and ideas. In partnership with the SIAS\, the municipality of Niederanven decorated the venue with wildflowers. The catering exclusively featured plant-based products. As with Climate Pact Day\, the trophies for this event were made from recycled pallets in collaboration with CIGL Walferdange.

DESCRIPTION:Klima-Agence Klimapakt-Dag\nThe Climate Pact is a program established by the Ministry of the Environment\, Climate\, and Biodiversity to support Luxembourgish municipalities in their commitment to the energy transition and climate protection. It serves as a key tool for guiding municipal policy and is partly based on the “European Energy Award\,” a European quality management system for municipalities focused on energy policy and climate action. The program is managed by Klima-Agence. \nOn June 7\, 2024\, the 12th edition of the Climate Pact Day took place\, organized by Klima-Agence in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment\, Climate\, and Biodiversity. This year’s event highlighted key topics such as promoting photovoltaics\, decarbonizing heating systems\, adapting to climate change\, and the circular economy. During the event\, 41 certified municipalities were recognized for their progress in implementing various measures of the program. Throughout the day\, we served local\, organic\, and vegetarian products\, with vegan options available. In line with our commitment to sustainability\, the trophies presented were made from recycled pallets in collaboration with CIGL Walferdange. \nCommunication materials were designed for reuse on various occasions\, and all communication was done via email. With the support of Oekozenter Pafendall\, we were able to host an event that respects the environment and protects our resources.

DESCRIPTION:InTech LuxIO 2024\nLuxIO\, initiée en 2016\, est une conférence organisée par et pour les collaborateurs. Cet événement vise à encourager le partage et l’échange d’expériences dans un cadre distinct de la routine professionnelle habituelle et des missions chez les clients. La 5e édition\, qui s’est tenue le 14 mars 2024 au siège de notre entreprise InTech à Kayl\, était placée sous le thème du « Cinéma ». \nCette journée a réuni l’ensemble du personnel autour de keynotes et de conférences présentées par des intervenants externes et internes. Une vingtaine de collaborateurs ont saisi l’opportunité de partager leurs passions à travers des conférences et des ateliers. Les thématiques abordées ont inclus des sujets techniques comme la 3D immersive\, l’IA générative\, le DevOps\, l’UX\, ainsi que des réflexions sur l’éthique et la place de l’humain dans le numérique. L’organisation de l’événement repose sur un collectif de collaborateurs volontaires\, soutenu par l’équipe Communication. Ces équipes gèrent tous les aspects logistiques\, incluant la détermination de la date\, le choix des conférences\, l’élaboration de l’agenda\, la gestion du catering\, et la planification des activités. \nCette année\, LuxIO a reçu pour la première fois le label Green Business Events\, marquant un engagement fort envers la durabilité. Ce défi\, qui nous semblait ambitieux\, a été relevé avec succès par l’équipe d’organisation\, nous permettant de créer un événement plus respectueux de l’environnement. Grâce à l’accompagnement de l’OekoZenter Pafendall\, nous avons pu adopter des pratiques écoresponsables qui seront désormais intégrées dans nos futurs événements. L’implication de chacun a contribué à faire de LuxIO un moment privilégié et mémorable pour l’ensemble de l’entreprise.

Cette stratégie met non seulement l’accent sur le tourisme en tant que facteur économique\, mais place également au centre de la future évolution touristique du pays les besoins des personnes et une offre de qualité. La durabilité a déjà été intégrée et mise en œuvre de manière cohérente dans ses quatre dimensions (écologique\, économique\, sociale et culturelle) au sein de la stratégie. Il s’agit maintenant de tirer parti de ces bases précieuses et de préparer le terrain pour un travail de durabilité continu au cours des prochaines années. C’est pourquoi le ministère de l’Économie\, responsable de ce domaine\, a décidé de développer un concept global de durabilité pour le tourisme au Luxembourg. Le ministère de l’Économie est accompagné dans ce processus par le cabinet de conseil en durabilité reCET create.empower.transform. \nAu cours de cet atelier\, nous souhaitons examiner les résultats de l’analyse de l’état des lieux réalisée dans le cadre du projet et engager un échange ouvert. Dans un processus participatif\, nous identifierons les domaines clés et les champs d’action à intégrer dans le concept de durabilité\, qui seront au cœur des travaux futurs sur la durabilité touristique\, et nous recueillerons les premières idées pour leur mise en œuvre pratique.

DESCRIPTION:ICCA Skills 2024\nThe ICCA Skills Hub took place in Luxembourg. \nWith almost 20 participants coming from Luxembourg\, Europe\, and beyond\, as well as outstanding international trainers\, the two ICCA Skills certification programs took place at the end of February 2024 in Luxembourg at LUXEXPO THE BOX. \nThese five-day certification programs equipped newcomers in the meetings sector with foundational knowledge and introduced seasoned professionals to new strategies and business models in destination management. \nAs a proud host destination from 2024 to 2026\, Luxembourg prepared some great opportunities for networking with professionals in the meetings industry. There were also plenty of opportunities to explore the city and the country\, revealing the history and culture of Luxembourg in an appealing and memorable way. \nIt was equally important for the organizers to follow all the guidelines of the Green Business Events initiative. Thus\, the event was sustainable\, and the learners from outside the country enjoyed free public transportation\, short distances within the city\, and local providers of food and beverages\, etc. Besides\, all the participants of the course received a special present that represents the cultural heritage of the country – a traditional Easter bird of Luxembourg\, Péckvillchen.

Les lunchs et la soirée du vendredi sont destinés uniquement à notre personnel (plus de 3000 personnes) pour des moments de partage festifs et animés. Enfin\, le samedi la journée des familles permet aux collaborateurs de venir avec leurs enfants sur le marché de Noël qui se transforme en salle de « jeux » immense pour tous les âges – des bébés de quelques mois aux enfants d’une dizaine d’année…la présence de Saint Nicolas est un moment fort de cette journée.

DESCRIPTION:LCB Breakfast Meeting 2023\nOn November 23\, 2023\, the Luxembourg Convention Bureau hosted a breakfast meeting at “La Biscuiterie” (Goeres group)\, attended by approximately 50 of its partners including hotels\, venues\, event agencies\, and caterers. This gathering provided an excellent opportunity to introduce our partners to the recent Green Business Events initiative\, launched in 2023 by the Ministry of Economy and Oekozenter Pafendall\, in collaboration with IMS Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Convention Bureau. It was an honour to have Isabelle Schummers\, Environmental Advisor at Oekozenter Pafendall\, as a speaker to present this initiative. \nIn today’s world\, environmental consciousness is more crucial than ever\, and event organizers are increasingly recognizing their role in fostering sustainability. Thus\, it was imperative for the LCB to engage our partners more deeply in this project. Even smaller events like this one have an impact\, underscoring the importance of involvement in every kind of event to make a difference. \nFor LCB\, obtaining the logo for this event was essential to set an example for our partners and to raise awareness about this initiative. As promoter of the destination abroad and facilitator of the organization of business events in Luxembourg\, the LCB supports and assists associations or companies in their event organization process\, serving as mediator to connect organizers with the partners.

DESCRIPTION:FNR AWARDS 2023\nDepuis 2009\, le FNR organise la cérémonie annuelle des FNR Awards – l’un de ses événements phares qui récompense la communauté de la recherche nationale\, en présence du ministre de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche. Les lauréats sont honorés dans les catégories « Publication scientifique exceptionnelle »\, « Thèse de doctorat exceptionnelle »\, « Promotion exceptionnelle de la science auprès du public »\, et pour la première fois en 2017\, “Innovation remarquable issue de la recherche”. Avec événement\, le FNR vise à encourager la communication entre les chercheurs et à promouvoir les activités scientifiques destinées au grand public et aux jeunes. Les FNR Awards mettent en valeur ces travaux et récompensent à la fois les lauréats et leurs institutions. Depuis 2021\, les catégories “Innovation axée sur la recherche” et “Publication scientifique” ont été fusionnées dans une nouvelle catégorie : « Réalisations scientifiques exceptionnelles ». Cette même année\, la cérémonie a également vu l’introduction de la nouvelle catégorie « Mentor exceptionnel ». \nLa cérémonie de remise de prix a lieu dans la Maison des Arts et des Etudiants à Esch/Belval – cœur de la recherche luxembourgeoise depuis 2015 – et rassemble entre 180 et 200 invités chaque édition. \nDans le cadre d’une démarche générale d’éco-responsabilité\, le FNR souhaite mettre en œuvre des solutions plus durables et plus respectueuses de l’environnement lors de ses événements – raison qui nous a motivés à introduire notre demande pour l’obtention de la certification « Green Business Events ». Avant l’obtention du logo\, le FNR appliquait déjà un certain nombre de solutions plus durables aux FNR Awards\, mais l’octroi du label a encouragé notre équipe événementielle à pousser d’avantage sa réflexion autour de la question pour mettre en place des solutions encore plus éco-responsables et à revoir certains éléments de son organisation.  Cette certification reflète l’engagement et la direction dans laquelle le FNR souhaite continuer d’évoluer.

Participants shared their insights with the sustainable investment community both within and beyond Luxembourg. The event is well-regarded for its dedication to promoting sustainable finance and cultivating responsible investment practices. LSIW23 successfully brought together industry experts\, pioneers\, and advocates to discuss the latest trends\, insights\, and best practices in the field. \nAs a pioneer in sustainable finance in Luxembourg\, LuxFLAG’s LSIWs have consistently been “Green Events” with eco-friendly commitments and measures. However\, this year marked a significant milestone as our conference obtained the Green Business Events logo\, acknowledging our event’s meticulous adherence to eco-responsible criteria. \nLuxFLAG’s commitment to sustainability is further reinforced by this certification\, underscoring our dedication to making a positive impact on the environment. We take pride in contributing to the green movement and setting an example in our industry. \nObtaining the logo involved careful consideration of various factors. Our choice of service providers\, particularly catering\, was made with a focus on selecting partners who align with our ecological values. The event featured a range of dietary options\, including vegan\, vegetarian and gluten-free choices with an emphasis on locally sourced food and beverages\, prioritizing organic and fair-trade products. \nIn terms of waste management\, we prioritized the use of environmentally friendly and reusable materials whenever possible. Waste sorting was implemented throughout the event. \nWhile the logo granting procedure was comprehensive and demanding\, the effort was undoubtedly worthwhile. The detailed questionnaire prompted us to thoroughly assess our environmental impact and implement measures to enhance it.

Cependant\, grâce à l’accompagnement expert de l’équipe de l’Oekozenter\, la transition s’est déroulée en toute fluidité. Nous sommes extrêmement fiers d’avoir obtenu ce label\, marquant ainsi notre engagement à réduire l’impact de nos événements sur l’environnement. \nPour les événements à venir\, nous sommes désormais bien équipés pour respecter ces critères et continuer à réduire notre empreinte carbone. HOME EXPO and the Semaine Nationale du Logement joined forces to offer an immersive experience in the world of housing\, where the seriousness of real estate projects is combined with a touch of entertainment for the whole family\, leaving everyone with a wealth of ideas to take home with them. \nThis year\, the show opened its doors to more than 10\,000 visitors\, marking a considerable success for the event. \nGreen Business Events logo and Commitment to Sustainability\nHOME EXPO and the Semaine Nationale du Logement were proud to receive the Green Business Events label\, testifying to their commitment to eco-responsible and inclusive practices. Luxexpo The Box\, aware of the importance of these actions\, is working hand in hand with visitors\, exhibitors and suppliers to promote environmentally friendly and inclusive behaviours. \nTheir commitment to sustainability is reflected in a number of concrete actions: \n\nCommunication: Close collaboration with their exhibitors has encouraged the adoption of more eco-responsible behaviour: abandoning promotional goodies\, focusing on digital communication\, minimising the use of single-use media.\nWaste management: sorting bins with clear signage were made available to their visitors\, exhibitors\, and suppliers\, facilitating the proper recycling of waste.\nSustainable catering: In partnership with their caterers\, they have emphasised the use of local products\, reusable crockery\, the elimination of plastic bottles and a wide range of vegetarian options.\nMobility: Their mobility access guide was widely distributed to encourage visitors\, exhibitors\, and suppliers to use public transport to get to the event.\n\nThese actions represent their ongoing commitment to responsible and sustainable events.

L’édition 2023 était placée sous le thème du “tourisme actif”. Par “tourisme actif”\, on entend une philosophie qui associe l’aventure\, l’écotourisme et le tourisme culturel dans des voyages de découverte. DESCRIPTION:MOMENTUM 2023: Mitigate\, Adapt\, Repair\nExplore innovations. Meet needs. Restore damage. \nDeloitte Luxembourg organized the 2nd edition of MOMENTUM\, its annual conference on sustainability on 27 June 2023. This inclusive event united speakers from different generations to address the impact of today’s most pressing challenges. \nMOMEMNTUM 2023 shed light on why sustainability and sustainable finance have become increasingly imperative within policymaking\, strategy setting and operational processes. Focusing on the transition to a low-carbon economy\, the conference addressed three important questions: \n\nWhat new innovations and challenges are we seeing in efforts to mitigate climate change?\nHow much more does the financial sector need to mobilize\, and which technology—and at what capacity —needs to be implemented for the most vulnerable?\nHow can we foster international cooperation to accelerate near-term and immediate action?\n\nTo inspire and spark important conversations\, representatives from local NGOs committed to fighting climate change\, reducing inequalities and improving education were also present. \nThe food and drinks offered were made primarily with local products or came from fair trade. We refrained from using any single-use food or drink containers\, plastic cutlery\, or straws to reduce unnecessary waste.  To reduce paper consumption\, our invitations and promotion were digital in format only. \nAt Deloitte\, embedding sustainability in everything we do also means adopting a new approach to the way we organize our events; our behaviors must align with our organization’s sustainability goals. I’m particularly proud that MOMENTUM was one of the first events to be recognized as a Green Business Event\, and I commend the Ministry’s initiative to encourage such responsible practices.
